Wage Range

Depending upon your degree, national certification and years of nursing experience.

 

Successful candidates should possess:

  • Associate and/or bachelor degree in nursing.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, set goals, maintain focus and follow through under a variety of working conditions.
  • High level of attention to detail and passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills using sound judgment and creative problem solving skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated competency with electronic medical record systems and/or other computer applications.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and teamwork skills.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
CNAs assist nurses in daily hygiene, bedside care, vital-sign measurement, common health problems and chronic illnesses in long-term care facilities and hospitals. St. Charles employs more than 170 CNAs at any given time. Certification requirements for CNAs in Oregon may be found at http://www.osbn.state.or.us/OSBN/CNAcertification.html. Many CNAs further their schooling to become RNs.

Registered Nurse (RN)
The most common nursing education involves a two-year program in which you receive an associate's degree in nursing. A bachelor's degree in nursing is a four-year program that focuses on leadership development along with the general studies and nursing education. Nursing Management or Nursing Education
Obtaining a BSN provides increased opportunities for a career in nursing management and education.

Graduate Education
You might choose to earn a master's degree if you are interested in specializing in a certain area, such as clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner or certified registered nurse anesthetist. Or, you may decide to work as an educator in a hospital or nursing school, nurse manager, public health or health care informatics. There are many other post-masters certificates and doctoral programs available to career nurses.
